MathsLink: Further is a bridging program for students needing VCE Units 3 & 4 of Further Mathematics to study at Swinburne.
VCE Further Mathematics (Units 3 & 4) is a prerequisite for many bachelor degrees in aviation, information and communication technology, science, education and health science. This bridging program is designed to help students who have not studied Units 3 & 4 Further Mathematics as part of their VCE to meet the prerequisite for entry into their chosen course.

Course description
MathsLink: Further (MTH00008) is a bridging program for VCE students who have not completed Units 3 and 4 Further Mathematics.
Swinburne has a variety of aviation, information and communication technology, science, education and health science courses which list Year 12 Further Mathematics as a prerequisite for entrance. For students who are interested in studying one of these courses, but do not have the mathematics prerequisite, Swinburne’s MathsLink: Further program may be able to help.

The aim of this program is to provide students who have not completed VCE Units 3 & 4 Further Mathematics with a bridging program to gain the knowledge and mathematical skills necessary to successfully engage with first year level study in the areas of aviation, information and communication technology, science, education and health science within the higher education environment.

Course fees and requirements

Course fees
VCE Maths Link Further incurs a one-off $400 fee, payable upon enrolment.
Students who successfully complete VCE Maths Link Further and then enrol in a relevant Swinburne degree or associate degree or UniLink diploma within 12 months of completing the Maths Link program, will have the $400 Maths Link fee credited directly to their Swinburne course fees. Please note: this is not a refund or a reimbursement. It is a course-fee credit.
Entry requirements
Students are eligible to apply for Swinburne’s MathsLink: Further program, provided they satisfactorily meet the skill level necessary.
The prerequisite for entry into MathsLink: Further VCE Units 1 AND 2 Foundation Mathematics OR VCE Units 1 AND 2 General Mathematics OR VCE Units 1 AND 2 Mathematical Methods Please note that prerequisites are set for MathsLink: Further in order to give students the best possible chance of passing the course. A certain skill level is assumed for each of the modules taught, as with any Year 12 maths subject.

Applications for Semester 1 for courses listed on the VTAC Guide are generally made through VTAC. Under certain circumstances, some students (e.g. Non-Year 12) may apply directly to Swinburne.
