Biography

Associate Professor Llew Mann is the Director of Learning Transformations at Swinburne University of Technology. He has a BE (Mech&Space) Hons I, BSc (Physics), a PhD & GCEd from the University of Queensland. He has over 20 years of experience in engineering education research, both in Australia and in the USA. His research interests include engineering and STEM education, innovative pedagogies, professionalism in engineering, sustainability, scholarship of teaching and learning, engineering design & design thinking, and the K-12 pipeline. Llew has a particular interest in using qualitative research methodologies to explore the experiences and practices of students and professionals alike, including phenomenography and narrative analysis.

Llew was awarded an OLT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in 2012 along with two collaborators “For enhancing academics’ scholarly activities to influence student learning, by coordinating and leading an innovative Community of Practice and comprehensive ‘Scholarship of Teaching’ program”.
