Dr Derui Ding



Derui Ding received both the B.Sc. degree in Industry Engineering in July 2004 and the M.Sc. degree in Detection Technology and Automation Equipment in July 2007 from Anhui Polytechnic University, Wuhu, China, and the Ph.D. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering in December 2014 from Donghua University, Shanghai, China. He is currently a senior research fellow with the School of Software and Electrical Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.  From July 2007 to December 2014, he was a teaching assistant and then a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Anhui Polytechnic University, Wuhu, China. From January 2015 to February 2017, he was an associate professor with the Department of Control Science and Engineering, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai, China. 

Derui has published over 40 articles including 11 ones listed as Highly Cited Papers according to Essential Science Indicator (ESI) Report in January 2018, which covers the period from January 2007 to September/October 2017. Among these articles,  5 first-author articles are published in the two best journals in the category of Control & Systems Engineering by SCIMago. In particular, 12 articles are published in the most prestigious IEEE Transactions, and 14 articles are published in journals with impact factor over 4.0, almost all of them are SCIMago Q1 journal articles (

Derui Ding has a close cooperation with some international research groups. From June 2012 to September 2012, he was a research assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. From March 2013 to March 2014, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Information Systems and Computing, Brunel University London, UK. From June 2015 to August 2015, he was a research assistant in the Department of Mathematics, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

Derui Ding is serving an associate editor for Neurocomputing, a famous SCI journal with impact factor 3.317, and has served as a guest editor for some SCI journals, such as “International Journal of General Systems” and “Discrete Dynamics in Nature and Society”. He is a very active reviewer for many international journals and conferences, and won the honor of outstanding reviewers of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control in 2012, Asian Journal of Control in 2013, 2015 and  IET Control Theory & Applications in 2016.
