Swinburne Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pascale Quester, welcomed Ms Neyland’s appointment and said her extensive experience made her an ideal candidate for the role.

“Bronte’s appointment is a testament to the strong talent we have here at Swinburne, and a recognition of her outstanding work to date,” Professor Quester said.

“Her significant experience at dual sector universities will be an asset to Swinburne as the Federal Government looks to drive harmonisation between the higher education and vocational education and training sectors, as part of the Australian Universities Accord.”

Shaping Swinburne's future

A seasoned senior executive, Ms Neyland has more than two decades of experience in the higher education sector, managing multidisciplinary teams spanning strategy, domestic and international recruitment and admissions, international relations, marketing, media and web services.

Prior to joining Swinburne in 2022, she was Vice-President, Future Students and Marketing at Victoria University in Melbourne. Before working in the tertiary education sector in Australia, she worked for local government in Japan.

Ms Neyland said she was excited about helping shape Swinburne’s next strategic plan from an External Engagement perspective, as Swinburne continues to position itself as a leading institution at the cutting edge of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

“Swinburne is experiencing a remarkable period of growth and achievement, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with our academics and researchers, vocational education and professional staff to realise our vision of bringing people and technology together to build a better world,” Ms Neyland said.

Ms Neyland will commence in her new role on 29 May, working alongside Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Joe Chicharo to ensure a smooth transition.
