The Strategic Research Collaborative Agreement signed with Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), will allow Swinburne to deliver offshore PhDs in collaboration with HKPC in Hong Kong and to Shenzhen, China.

Students taking advantage of the partnership will be able to enrol in a Swinburne PhD and be jointly supervised by Swinburne and HKPC, says Professor Alan Lau, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Research Performance and Development

“This agreement will allow PhD candidates to enhance their research by collaborating with international networks while gaining valuable exposure and experience in the management of global research projects,” says Professor Lau.

“Our students and staff will be able to engage with the HKPC Innovation Space to advance their translation research and ideas towards commercialisation.”

The research collaboration will focus on the following areas:

  • Industry 4.0
  • 3D printing
  • Electric vehicles
  • Advanced materials
  • Technology innovation and commercialisation

“Students will have access to the same supervisory support and research training as an onshore student and will also spend time in Australia as part of their program.

HKPC researchers and staff will be supported, as each project will also have industry collaboration and translation.”
