Overview

Through site visits, expert-led discussions, and hands-on experiences, participants will engage with industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators tackling sustainability challenges at scale in a country of more than 1.4 billion people. This academically rigorous tour fosters critical thinking, inter-cultural competence, and professional development, and provides you with practical insights into the real-world complexities of creating sustainable change. 

The tour provides extensive opportunity for exploring the social, cultural and environmental context needed for tackling complex challenges. Students will explore the dynamic cities of Beijing and Shanghai, visiting landmarks including the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, The Bund, Yu Gardens, the Oriental Pearl Tower and the famous Nanjing Road shopping district. You will also get the opportunity to socialise with local Chinese students and gain an insight into how they view sustainability and China’s role in creating a sustainable world for all.

Eligibility

To qualify for this program, you must:

  • be enrolled into an Undegraduate degree
  • have completed 100 credit points when applying
  • have a distinction (70+) average

Funding

OS-HELP Loan

Eligible Australian students can also apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of A$4,947 or A$9,893 to help cover costs associated with your overseas program.

Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants

This program has a number of A$2,000 Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants available for eligible students. Students will be prompted to apply for the Swinburne Abroad Travel Grant as part of their online application for the Study Tour program.
