Information for advisers and agents

Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia offers your students the ideal study abroad destination.

They will benefit from studying at an internationally renowned university, recognised for ground-breaking research, high-quality education and innovative industry collaborations. We also pride ourselves on consistently rating highly for student satisfaction.

We know how to make international students feel welcome

Swinburne has a long history of making international students feel at home and providing them with the support they need to succeed academically and personally.

There’s a wealth of pre-departure information on our website that steps students through what they need to prepare for their arrival. We can arrange on-campus, off-campus or homestay accommodation for them and we even provide an airport welcome and transfer service.

A special week-long orientation program for exchange and study abroad students is run just prior to the start of each semester to help familiarise them with their faculty, the campus and life in Melbourne.

Any exchange or study abroad student who arrives before orientation also has the opportunity to attend one of our daily one-hour welcome sessions for international students. At the session they are given essential information, greeted by a friendly face and introduced to other students so they can feel at home right away.

Returning home

At the end of your students’ stay, we organise a returning home session which covers the logistics of travelling home and strategies for dealing with return-culture-shock. This is followed by a farewell ceremony at which each student is presented with a certificate of participation and has the opportunity to celebrate the end of their experience with their fellow students.

If desired, we can arrange for a student’s academic transcript to be sent to your office. Invoices can also be sent directly to you, if required.

Study tours for international students

As well as our student exchange opportunities for individuals, Swinburne can arrange a special study tour for a group of students from your institution.

Speak to us about tailoring a study tour specifically for a cohort of your students. Study tours provide an opportunity for international students to experience Australian life and culture in a safe, friendly environment.
