Animation
Engaging animation goes far beyond the creation of visually appealing on-screen designs. To captivate an audience, the art of storytelling and the principles of film production are paramount.
At Swinburne, our animation programs will teach you to look further than just great visuals. We place an emphasis on the creative and analytical components of animation, as well as the fundamentals of on-screen work.
Through our animation courses, you’ll understand film production techniques, the storytelling process and the principles of on-screen design to create visual art that people can truly connect with.
Our animation degrees combine the theory and techniques of film and video production, so you can bring your stories to life.

STUDENT SUCCESS
Former students tug Hollywood heartstrings
Having a film shortlisted for the Oscars probably seemed like an impossible dream for Andrew Goldsmith and Bradley Slabe when they started at Swinburne. But the dream became an extremely exciting reality as their seven-minute stop-motion film, Lost & Found was shortlisted for the 2019 Academy Awards. With an AACTA for best short animation already stitched up, the pair has also been nominated for the prestigious Annie Awards.

The Swinburne Advantage
An undergraduate degree must be about more than just knowledge – it’s also job readiness, professional experience and access to further opportunities.
We partner with leading Australian and global organisations to offer students authentic workplace experiences. Our degrees can include placements, internships, industry-linked projects, study tours and more. This is your chance to work on real-life projects, solve day-to-day challenges in your field and gain the professional skills that put knowledge into practice. You’ll build invaluable skills and confidence, knowing you have what it takes to land a job by graduation or even before.

Student experience
Through work integrated learning as part of her degree, Kiersten was employed as a 3D modeler before she had even graduated. Now she's animating international feature films.
