Overview

This unit Students will learn about the legal, professional and ethical responsibilities of information Industry 4.0 through real-world scenarios to become familiar with approaches to data governance, information management and the future adoption of technologies such as the ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. The unit will also cover aspects of the world of work that students should be aware which includes cultural awareness in the workplace, gender diversity and inclusion.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding on the current and future challenges of Industry 4.0 in the context of data governance and policy in a national and global sense
  • Research and critically evaluate the impact of Industry 4.0 processes and the use of current and emerging technologies
  • Identify the opportunities for social, sustainable and corporate in the adoption of artificial intelligence and the challenges associated with it
  • Investigate and document on an ethical and societal issue within the context of the world of work
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate and work effectively as a leader and with peers

Hurdle

As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:

  • An aggregate mark for the unit of 50% or more, including
  • At least 35% of the possible final marks for each Major Assessment Component (any assessment worth 20% or more)
  • At least 45% in the final exam

Students who do not achieve at least 35% of the possible final marks for each Major Assessment Component and at least 45% for the final exam (if applicable), will receive a maximum of 44% as the total mark for the unit and will not be eligible for a conceded pass.


The Major Assessment Components in this unit are the Online Activities (combined grade), Computer Lab Reports (combined grade) and the Exam.
