Faculty of Health, Arts and Design
Using technology to make change happen across the humanities, social sciences, arts, design and health sciences.
The Faculty of Health, Arts and Design (FHAD) brings together multidisciplinary scholarship and teaching across humanities, social sciences, arts, design and health sciences. Cross-disciplinary and international research collaboration is part of our DNA. We use gaming technology to solve tricky health and education dilemmas; architectural design for improved wellbeing in clinical settings; robots to teach Indigenous children to code as they learn their local language; and virtual reality to simulate anatomical models. We use technology to make change happen.
Our students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including architecture and industrial design protolabs and highly specialised engineering robots, Victoria’s only certified teaching kitchen and food chemistry lab, an industry-standard film and television studio, and the Southern hemisphere’s only neuroimaging facility with MRI, MEG and ECG capability.
Through our teaching and pedagogy, we seek to build transferable skills such as resilience, self-determination and an entrepreneurial mindset as well as developing high levels of digital literacy through authentic assessment so that our graduates are ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
