bullet What is Pathways Direct?

Pathways Direct is a way that Swinburne TAFE students who are interested in studying a university degree can apply for a degree program at Swinburne. The application is handled internally by Swinburne and does not require a VTAC application. Successful applicants may also be eligible for credit transfer which reduces the time taken to complete the degree.

Arrow - Grey Who is eligible?

This opportunity is open to local and international Swinburne TAFE students in the final semester of a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma. If you are currently enrolled in a Certificate IV course at TAFE where this is the highest available level, then you are also eligible to apply for TAFE Direct Entry. Preference will be given to students completing the highest level of their qualification.

Selection for programs on the Hawthorn and Prahran campuses is based on academic achievement and successful completion of all units of study in the final year of the TAFE course. A credit average in final year is generally required. Please be aware that students who fail a subject in the final year of study, even if the subject is passed at the second attempt, may not be eligible for selection.

Selection for programs on the Lilydale campus is based on the successful completion of a Swinburne TAFE Diploma or Advanced diploma. Swinburne TAFE students who complete an Advanced Diploma or Associate Diploma are guaranteed entry into any Faculty of Higher Education Lilydale degree program. The level of credit that will be granted to a student will depend on the relevance of their TAFE qualification to the program they are enrolling in.

Students who have completed a TAFE Diploma or Certificate IV are eligible to apply for programs at Lilydale, however, an offer is not guaranteed. Students who have completed a Diploma or Certificate IV may be eligible for some credit.

Students are advised that TAFE results for Semester 1 subjects must be finalised by Friday September 12 2008 and Semester 2 results must be finalised by Friday December 12 2008. This includes instances where TAFE results are being contested.

For more information on the minimum requirements for all non-year 12 applicants interested in applying for Swinburne Higher Education courses visit the 2009 Minimum Requirements website.
