Higher Education Commission of Pakistan

The HEC of Pakistan is an independent, autonomous, and constitutionally established institution that funds, oversees, regulates, and accredits higher education efforts in Pakistan.

Its objective is to double participation in higher education in 10 years, increasing from seven per cent to 15 per cent between 2010 and 2020; in 2015, it was still at just nine per cent.

In order to achieve the 15 per cent objective, the HEC works with a number of countries and universities to welcome Pakistani scholarship recipients.

Each year the HEC awards a number of Masters by Research and PhD scholarships to high achieving Pakistani students.

The program aims to support Pakistan’s need for highly qualified engineers, technologists, and scientists in high-tech fields, as well as build capacity of their universities, research and development organisations, and industries.
