NCS is a Network Partner for the GRI Readers Choice Awards

Its You The number of organisations reporting on their economic, environmental and social performance has reached a record high – thousands of sustainability reports are now issued each year. The number of people using these reports to gain data on organisations is growing too, but what do you, the readers, think of the reports that are out there? The Readers' Choice Awards and Survey provides you - report readers - with the opportunity to have your say.

By taking part you will influence the future of sustainability reporting and improve the way organizations communicate information on their economic, environmental and social performance.

A report on the survey results will be launched at the Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency held 26-28th May 2010. The Readers' Choice Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony during the conference.

Sustainability forum - Textile Waste: Recovery and Regeneration

Textile Waste In recognition of the increased pressure on manufacturers to reduce their global footprints, the National Centre for Sustainability's Sustainable Enterprise Network in association with the Technical Textile and Non-woven Association held a free sustainability forum on 15th October at Hawthorn campus. Professor Mohammad Taherzadeh travelled to Victoria from the University of Borås in Sweden to deliver the keynote address. In 2007, under the tutelage of Prof. Taherzadeh, PhD students began to look at the possibilities of producing ethanol and biogas from textile waste. The research found a method to produce half a kilo of ethanol from a kilo of denim. Prof. Taherzadeh's presentation outlined the future for garments at the end of the lifecycle that would otherwise be sent to landfill.
