Workplace Sustainability Training and Short Courses
The NCS works collaboratively with individuals and organisations to provide a competitive edge in a rapidly changing operational landscape through customised sustainability solutions, including organisational change outcomes and short courses such as carbon accounting.Whether you are an individual looking for a career change or a business looking to upskill your staff for a carbon limited future, the National Centre for Sustainability can assist.
NCS offer a range of programs from one off workshops and events (available to the public) to long term sustainability workforce programs.
- Carbon Accounting Learn the principles behind the terminology, trends and drivers, international best practices, methodologies and standards.
- Carbon Farming & Trading Farmers, forest growers and landholders will learn how to help the environment and reduce carbon pollution using the latest approaches to developing and implementing offset projects under the governments’ Carbon Farming Initiative.
- Introduction to Energy & Resource Efficiency Participants will gain a working knowledge of energy conservation and the skills to provide practical recommendations on efficiency opportunities. These skills can be utilised in reducing your energy costs both in business and the home by making your environment more sustainable and reducing your carbon footprint.
- Sustainability Reporting(GRI Certified) The certified training program developed by the Amsterdam based Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) provides skills and knowledge on sustainability reporting including how to produce a best practice sustainability report.
- Participate in Environmentally Sustainable Work Practices (Online) Gain the skills and knowledge to be able to identify environmentally sustainable work practices in your own workplace, whether, depending on the size of your organisation, this is for the whole company, your department, your office branch or your team.
- Introduction to Sustainability in the Workplace Designed especially for office staff, this fun and interactive workshop will raise your awareness about sustainability issues, as well providing tips and tools for saving resources and money at home and in the office.
- Introduction to Integrating Sustainability into Courses & Teaching This hands-on, participatory workshop is designed to extend the skills of educators to integrate sustainability into courses and teaching practice. Based on the principles and practices of Education for Sustainability, you will explore transformative teaching and learning approaches that engage students more deeply with sustainability.
Sustainability Workforce Programs
Our strong ties with industry and community provide the advantage of keeping us at the forefront of sustainability initiatives and developments, at a local, state, and national level. Over the last 7 years we have delivered a range of customised programs such as:
- "Sustainable Practice" trained 180 staff at Springvale Botanical cemetery
- "Sustainability Awareness" training to 195 Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD) staff and 113 Dept of Justice (DOJ) staff
- "Carbon Accounting" to over 30 Sustainability Victoria Staff
- "Lean to Green" training of 8 Enterprise/RTO partnerships and 90 staff in sustainability workplace practices for the fibre and textile industry
