Finding Journal Articles

Databases enable you to search for articles on a particular topic:
  • Ebscohost A platform for more than 40 databases, use this link to search across all of them or to select individual, or groups of, relevant databases such as:
  • Medline - covered by PubMed and Scopus
  • MIMS Online The web version of the MIMS pharmaceutical product information. It contains both abbreviated and full prescribing information, consumer medicine information and product images for pharmaceuticals available in Australia.
  • MIT Cognet Includes 6 full text MIT Press journals and abstracts from other 25 journals, as well as full text ebooks, covering the field of brain and cognitive science.
  • PubMed A service of the National Library of Medicine, providung access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles, including PubMed Central, and other related resources.
  • PubMed Central An archive of life science articles.
  • Sage Premier Full text access to over 450 journals published by Sage, access is generally from 1999 onwards.
  • Scopus One of the world’s largest abstract and indexing database. It also includes the journals indexed by ScienceDirect and has 100% Medline coverage. Science Direct is a full text science database with a strong coverage of biomedical science journals.
  • TVNews on Informit Provides online access to news, current affairs and selected documentary programs that have been broadcast on Australian television such as Four Corners, Catalyst and Cutting Edge.

  • Web of Science Provides access to current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,700 of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world. You can search most disciplines and time spans back to 1982 to uncover information relevant to your research.

  • MIT CogNet Over 500 full text ebooks in cognitive science, neuroscience and psychology.
  • Credo Reference Online dictionaries and encyclopaedias covering a range of topics. Also includes a useful online tool for measurement conversions.
  • EngNetBase Full text ebooks in biomedical engineering.
