Linking to online resources
(including journal articles, journals, ebooks, databases and library search)
Swinburne Library provides access to several hundred online databases containing thousands of journals and books, and millions of journal articles.
It's usually possible to create a link from a web page, or from your BlackBoard or WebCT course pages, directly to these databases, journals, books and articles.
In most cases you are not permitted to make copies of articles etc. to post on a web site, but you can make a link to an article in an online database. If you're just creating a link you don't need to ask for permission and you don't need to worry about copyright.
To make sure that your links will work reliably and that the links will work from off campus you should follow the instructions we've created for creating these links.
- Linking to an article in an online database
- Linking to a specific database in a collection of databases
- Help! My link works on campus but doesn't work off campus
- EBSCOhost database changes
If you have linked to articles in EBSCOhost Business Source Premier or Computer Source you will need to update those links - see instructions.
