Your library barcode and PIN

You need to use your library barcode...

to renew and check your loans and holds by telephone.

You need to use your library barcode and PIN …

to place holds, renew and check your loans and holds, and work with "My List" in the library catalogue.

Your library barcode

Your library barcode is shown on your Swinburne student or staff card, or your Swinburne Library borrower card.

Your library barcode starts with a U followed by 8 characters. For example: U12345678. Don't use your student/staff ID number!

catalogue

When using the library catalogue, enter the complete library barcode including all letters. For example: U1234567X.

Your PIN

A default PIN is automatically created for you.

For Swinburne students

Your PIN is the last 4 numbers of the telephone number you had when you first enrolled.

You can view your PIN through My.Swinburne. Login to My.Swinburne and click on My Library. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the View my PIN button.

If you change your telephone number your PIN will not automatically change. You will need to change it. See instructions below.

If you do not have a telephone at home or if you need help with your PIN, visit any library service desk or telephone the library: 9214 8330.

For Swinburne staff

All staff now have a PIN.

You can view your PIN through My.Swinburne. Login to My.Swinburne and click on My Library. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the View my PIN button.

For special and reciprocal borrowers

A default PIN is created for you when you register with the library. It is the last 4 numbers in your telephone number.

Changing your PIN

Go to the Library Home page to change your PIN.

  1. Under the heading Catalogues, click on the Renew loans, Check holds, My record link
  2. Login using your library barcode and your old PIN

  3. Click the My Details/Change PIN tab
  4. Scroll down to Personal Identification Number (PIN).

  5. Type your old PIN, then type your new PIN, type your new PIN again, then click the Update button.

    You can choose your own PIN using any combination of letters and numbers up to 8 characters.

Logging out

logoutWhenever you login to your library record, remember to click Logout when you are finished.

You will be automatically logged out if you have stopped using your record for more than a few minutes.
