Key Dates
Higher education works on two semesters a year, with each semester made up of two terms. Some programs also have an additional (and optional) Summer Semester (comprising of Summer Term A and Term B) and Winter Term. These are available to assist students speed up or spread their study load to suit their needs.
For a complete list of dates for enrolment, orientation, semester breaks, exams and results, please check the Swinburne academic calendar.
Postgraduate Course Intakes
There are two key intake times for Swinburne courses, although these sometimes vary. The first intake for the year is in late February or early March. The second, often smaller, intake takes place mid-year for commencement around July.
All postgrad applications are made directly to Swinburne. Some programs only have a single intake each year and others take students at any time of the year. Regardless of how many intakes a program has, you can submit your application at any time, however, late applications may not be considered for entry until the next semester.
Generally, applications close approximately one month prior to semester starting.
