Pathways Direct

What is Pathways Direct?

Through Pathways Direct, Swinburne TAFE students who are interested in studying a university degree can apply directly to Higher Education faculties for admission into a degree program.

The application is handled internally by Swinburne and does not require a VTAC application. Successful applicants may also be eligible for credit transfer which reduces the time taken to complete the degree.

Pathways Direct is only open for Semester 1 intake into undergraduate courses.

Who is eligible?

Pathways Direct is open to local and international Swinburne TAFE students who are currently in their final semester of study in a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma course. Students enrolled in the final semester of a Certificate IV course at Swinburne TAFE, may be eligible to apply through Pathways Direct.

For students who are finishing their TAFE Course in Semester 1, it is possible to apply for a Higher Education course commencing in Semester 2 through the University's Mid-Year intake program.

Faculty of Higher Education, Lilydale offers guaranteed entry to Swinburne TAFE students who completed an Advanced Diploma or Diploma. Students who have Certificate IV are eligible to apply for programs at Lilydale, however, an offer is not guaranteed.

For students who have finished their Swinburne TAFE qualification mid year or some time ago and who did not apply via the University's Mid Year Intake, you will need to apply via the Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre (VTAC) for Semester 1 2010 commencement. VTAC applications are currently open and will close 30 September 2009: www.vtac.edu.au

Selection Criteria

Preference will be given to applicants with credit grade average (65% or above) and to those with no fails in their final year of study.

Credit Transfer

Through Pathways Direct, students with completed Swinburne TAFE awards such as a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma are eligible for credit exemptions.

The level of credit that will be granted to a student will depend on the relevance of their TAFE qualification to the program they are enrolling in. Applicants should check the Credit Transfer Guide for advice regarding possible credit.

Certificate IV awards is generally not considered for credit, but may be considered for entry into degree programs.
