The Centre for Ultrahigh-bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS) has been successful in retaining its Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence (CoE) status. The successful bid will allow the CMP and five other universities to continue research towards all optical signal processing in telecommunications networks.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) today announced that 13 Centre of Excellence (CoE) bids have been successful, including the Centre for Ultrahigh-bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS) that incorporates Swinburne's Centre for Micro-Photonics.

The successful bid will see the research consortium between six Australian universities extend for a further 7 years with an additional $23.8 million in funding, equivalent to $3.4 million per annum excluding investment from the universities.

Further information on the 2011 CoE awards can be found through the ARC website (http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/ce/selection_report11.htm) while information concerting the CMPs contribution to CUDOS can be found here.
