Great tutorials. However, i am stuck because i do not have the Polygon split ring. I dont have the modeling rollover thing and dont have the edit polygon tab. Im using Maya 2008, so do you know any other name for it (Polygon split ring)?

I think you can use the edge loop tool instead.

Wow, this has a lot of really useful information. I love how you innovate your shortcuts into your modeling process. I think I may have to take a page from your book. This tutorial isn't difficult at all to follow. Thank you for sharing it. Hope to see more from you =)

Hi Steven!

I like your tutorials and your modeling style as well. I am new to Maya and do not know to much about the tricks. I tried to do a human character. May I ask you to have a look at it and give me some critics. Some progression and the final model can be seen here:

i seem to be doing something wrong

at 6:29 on part one it says extrude sides to create the leg, i do this but in the smooth object it completely messes up?

my extrude worked fine before i deleted half the body

any ideas?
cheers

This will happen now and then, the smooth copy just wont keep up with the changes.

Try removing the smooth version and re creating it. That should do the trick.

cheers
steven.

The smoothing thing seems to be a problem for me too, i followed the instructions precisely but still on the smooth version im getting sharp edges also tried remaking, deleting history etc. no luck

i del it and started again and it worked

i think it might be something to do with the vertices, maybe they are in the wrong places
