The Academic Senate has oversight of all academic programs at Swinburne on behalf of Swinburne Council.
Its responsibilities reach across all courses offered by the university, including vocational education, higher education and research, and includes:
- Academic policies, procedures and regulations
- Accreditation and reaccreditation of courses
- Requirements for the awarding of degrees, diplomas and certificates
- Maintenance of courses
- Course evaluation.
The Academic Senate Chair is Professor Bernadine Van Gramberg, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research and Research Training).
