Ho Dac Thanh Chuong will receive a full scholarship to attend Swinburne University of Technology and US $35,000 after winning Vietnam’s most watched television show, Way to Olympia Peak.

For the past 17 years, Way to Olympia Peak has showcased Vietnam’s brightest and best high school students as they demonstrate knowledge in Vietnamese literature, history, science, English and mathematics.

The competition has a viewing audience of more than 20 million and was broadcast live across Vietnam on Sunday 21 August 2016.

Over the last 12 months, participants competed against like-minded peers from various regions of Vietnam, putting their skills and knowledge on display for the entire country.

Chuong is the second student of Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted that has won the popular contest. 

Finalists

Winner: Ho Dac Thanh Chuong, Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Hue City
Runner up: Lam Vu Tuan, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Nam Dinh Province

Two third place finalists: Le Duy Bach, Hanoi Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Ha Noi City and Phan Tien Tung, Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted, Daklak Province.

Swinburne has supported Way to Olympia Peak since its inception, contributing scholarships and other assistance worth more than $1 million to provide opportunities for the winners.
