Swinburne will be rolling out the red carpet for some of their best film and television alumni over the coming months, as they launch the Swinburne Retrospective Alumni Film Series in partnership with Lido Cinemas.
The series will have a different alumni film being screened each month at Lido Cinemas, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker.
Running on the last Monday evening of every month, the series will be kicked off by renowned Australian filmmaker Richard Lowenstein, who graduated from Swinburne University in 1979.
Richard Lowenstein will be screening his 1984 hit debut feature film Strikebound on September 28.
Lowenstein is well known for feature films Dogs in Space, He died with a felafel in his hand, and Say a little prayer. He has also directed and produced music videos for bands such as INXS and U2.
“We are excited about working with Lido Cinemas to showcase some of the talented filmmakers that have been come through Swinburne’s Film and Television program,” Swinburne Lecturer and Academic Director of External Engagement, Film and Television, Mr Giarrusso said.
“Richard Lowenstein is one of Australia’s most respected filmmakers and since his time at Swinburne he has been responsible for some spectacular films."
