In Summary

Swinburne University of Technology’s Diploma of Events students recently teamed up with Swinburne staff to organise an event which saw the launch of the university’s new green travel plan.

The event, Commuter’s Paradise, was held on 16 April to promote ‘getting to our campuses’, a plan designed to encourage green travel at the university.

Diploma of Events teacher Jeremy Glover said the event was a great success.

“Commuter’s Paradise was 100% student-run, delivered on-budget and on-time,” Mr Glover said.

“We’ve heard positive feedback from everyone involved. Our students have not only been given real-world experience, but they’ve got a proven track record the next time they do get the opportunity to organise an event.”

Businesses such as FlexicarBladeworx and Soul Kitchen participated in the event, which not only promoted the green travel plan, but provided students with free food, activities, music, freebies and a competition to win one of two bikes.
