In Summary

Policy Online has won the ‘’Information’’ category in the 2014 Australian and New Zealand Internet Awards (ANZIA).

Policy Online, based at Swinburne University of Technology, is a database and alert service that provides free access to full text research reports, papers, statistics and other resources essential for public policy development and implementation in Australia and New Zealand.

The ANZIA awards, a collaboration between auDA and InternetNZ, celebrate the achievements of organisations, businesses and individuals that have made significant contributions to the development and use of the Internet in Australia and New Zealand.

Since being founded as a small project at Swinburne University of Technology in 2002, Policy Online now contains over 20,000 research records from more than 2000 organisations and receives over half a million visits each year.

Policy Online’s founder Julian Thomas says "I'm absolutely thrilled that Policy Online has won this award, among a very competitive field. Policy Online has always had a great response from its users and partners, but to get this recognition now from the Australia and New Zealand internet community is unexpected and very gratifying."

Policy Online’s major supporting partners are Swinburne University of Technology, RMIT University, Victoria University of Wellington, The University of Adelaide and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation.

The annual ANZIA awards, presented at a function at Crown Casino in Melbourne on Monday night,  celebrated some of the most creative and diverse websites in Australia and New Zealand.
