Industry head start for Swinburne IT graduates
In Summary
Swinburne University of Technology and Kiandra IT, one of Australia’s leading IT companies, have launched a Graduate Program to give students a head start in the IT industry.
The new program is a collaboration between Swinburne and Kiandra that aims to offer graduate positions to high achieving software development students with outstanding technical capability.
Swinburne’s Professor John Grundy, Dean School of Software and Electrical Engineering, said the new graduate program is an opportunity for students to make headway in the industry.
“Swinburne’s close industry ties have been a major part of the university’s initiatives and the Kiandra IT Graduate Program is another opportunity to push forward the experience so students can develop their own professional connections.
“This graduate program will allow our graduates to make headway in a highly competitive industry. The program will not only hone technical skills but will provide valuable experience and accelerate their career progression,” Professor Grundy said.
Graduates will join a 12-month program aimed to develop both functional and technical skills. The program exposes graduates to all divisions of Kiandra’s Software Development arm, providing them with a large breadth of experience.
“We’re incredibly excited to launch this new program and are pleased to be able to provide this opportunity to fast-track the learning and development of the graduates,” said Martin Cooperwaite, Director – Software Development.
"The graduates will be given a variety of challenges and accountabilities and we expect great results both for the business and for the individuals.”
The 2015 Graduate Program intake will open in December 2014, with up to 10 positions being awarded to successful Swinburne graduates.
