Cairns is a city of about 140,000 people and is a popular tourist hub because of its proximity to
the Great Barrier Reef, the Atherton Tablelands and
the World Heritage rainforests of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation.
Cairns (latitude 17° S) has a tropical climate with daytime temperatures around 25°C (77°F) in July. Attractions include scuba
diving, snorkelling, sailing, water rafting, canoeing, hot air ballooning, aboriginal culture, and exotic Australian wildlife. |
