Australian Rail Track Corporation
Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) Project Manager, Rhys Hannan, describes how Swinburne professional placements students enhance the way they deliver rail maintenance projects.
At ARTC we're committed to developing talent, which is why we’ve taken on undergraduate engineers through Swinburne’s professional placements program.
The success of this program over a number of years, has led to more Swinburne talent thriving in the rail industry.
Having students integrated in the team gives our staff an opportunity to support their development and personally mentor these up-and-coming engineers. It also gives the students an insight as to what life is like post-university.
It’s rewarding to see the students develop both professionally and personally over their 12 month placement.

"At ARTC, the professional placements program has enhanced the way we deliver our rail maintenance projects."
Rhys Hannan , Project Manager, Australian Rail Track Corporation
The maturity, readiness and professionalism of our students is a promising sign for a growing industry. Given the amount of rail infrastructure projects in the pipeline over the next decade, I strongly encourage others to get involved with the program.
