Did you know?

Studies conducted in Australia and overseas have found no differences in productivity between workers who are disabled and other employees. Workers who are disabled are also no more likely to be injured at work than their peers.

Research shows that on average, employees with disabilities have fewer scheduled absences and longer tenures.

Remember though, when you’re hiring someone or hosting a placement student with a disability, you must consider the Equal Opportunity Act (2010), Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and Disability Standards for Education (2005).

These prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities and provide a blueprint for how employers must accommodate people with disabilities.

It is also against the law to decline a student a placement because of their disability when reasonable adjustments to their working environment and schedule could be made.
