All programs are taught in English and tailored to your interests in the field of engineering and Chinese language and culture.

Courses offered

Choose one of the following courses:

Hands-on Learning for Emerging Technologies in Electronics Engineering

Specifically designed for students with an engineering background. BIT provides lectures and laboratory works in cutting-edge areas such as the Artificial Intelligence of Things, Wireless Communications & Microwave, Smart Vehicles, along with Chinese language and culture practices.

Future Decarbonizing Technology and Green Energy

Specifically designed for students with an engineering background. BIT provides lectures and laboratory works in the domains of Green Energy storage and Decarbonizing Technology Application for example, the hydrogen energy, biomass energy, electrochemical energy, thermal energy etc., along with Chinese language and culture practices.

Emerging Technologies in Materials for Renewable Energy

The primary purpose of this summer school is to provide students with a comprehensive exploration of materials science and engineering in the field of renewable and sustainable energy. Participants will develop a well-rounded grasp of fundamental concepts and practical applications of the current electrochemistry, advanced batteries, hydrogen energy devices, fuel cells, electrolyzers, and photovoltaic devices by actively engaging in lectures and laboratory sessions.

BIT Chinese Language and Multicultural Practice

Open to anyone interested in learning Mandarin and exploring the Chinese way of life. You will study alongside peers from various cultural and academic backgrounds and gain firsthand experience of Chinese culture.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for this program, students must:

  • be enrolled into an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree
  • meet the overseas exchange program eligibility requirements
  • meet any pre-requisites listed by the host institution and for the courses you choose
     

Academic credit

Each course is worth 4 credits. 

You are able to take this program as credit for one of your elective units. Alternatively, you may be able to use core units for this program, subject to approval from your Course Director.

Credit equivalence

4 credits at BIT = 12.5 CP (1 unit) at Swinburne

Costs

There is no program cost. Fees are covered by the partner.

This program may include the following with no cost:

  • On-campus accommodation
  • Teaching materials
  • Insurance
  • Culture Tours

Not covered by the partner: lab works and company visits. The host university has further information on their website. 

Note: Tuition fees to the host university are waived for students completing a short-term exchange program at one of our partner universities. You will continue to pay your regular tuition fees to Swinburne while you are on the program.

There may be other program costs incurred outside of tuition fees, including living expenses, airfares, and visas (if applicable).

Funding your overseas journey may be easier than you think

Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants

This program has A$1,000 Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants available.

This grant can help offset travel and living expenses for your overseas internship and are available to both Domestic and International UG or PG students. Students can apply for a grant as part of the application process.

OS-HELP Loan

Eligible Australian students can also apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of up to A$9,504 (depending on your program destination) to help cover costs associated with your overseas program.

Application

Students must first apply to Swinburne Abroad following the short-term exchange application process. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
