Swinburne congratulates all Australians who have been recognised for their contribution to the community in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours.

Members of the Swinburne community were recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours list.

The Queen's Birthday honours list recognises Australians for outstanding excellence, achievement or meritorious service.

Swinburne alumnus Michael Pratt, who studied a Graduate Diploma in Organisational Behaviour, was appointed a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for his services in public administration and the finance and banking industry. 

Mr Pratt currently serves as the deputy chancellor of Western Sydney University and is a Commissioner for Service, leading major service reforms across the NSW government.

Mr Kenneth James Harrison, who graduated a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, was appointed a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to the community through financial support and senior roles with horticultural, social welfare, medical and cultural groups.

Dr Stewart Gil, who was a member of Swinburne’s chaplaincy committee (1987-2004), was awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his service to tertiary education and the community.

Mr Bernard Barbetti, who studied a Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training in 2005, received an Australian Fire Service Medal, which recognises distinguished service by members of Australian fire services.

Mr Loris Molent has been awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant services to aeronautical engineering. Mr Molent has provided academic content in Swinburne’s Aviation postgraduate program.
