Training in Psychological Assessment for Provisional Psychologists

Help is on the way: Support for individuals, couples and families in the community.

The Psychology Clinic has developed a range of psychological assessment workshops for provisional and registered psychologists that will provide them with the opportunity to develop competency in the use of individually administered tests of intelligence, memory and personality. Developing the skills to administer, score and interpret tests that measure these facets of an individual is now mandatory for full registration with the Psychologists Registration Board or Victoria.

Psych Knowledge, Information and Training (Psych-KIT)

Training Provided

The Swinburne Psychology Clinic has selected the following psychological assessments to be included in our 2012 Psych-KIT workshops:

Workshop Structure

Workshops will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction in the psychological assessment. Workshop participants will be taught information about the tests, how to administer, score and interpret test results and the ethical issues associated with psychological testing.

The workshop will include test hire for one month, thus allowing participants to take their learning outside of the classroom. Each workshop is conducted over a half or full day. Workshops will be scheduled for the weekend to allow participants who are working full-time to attend. There are no assessment requirements associated with the Psych-KIT workshops.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a degree from an Australian university and completed a four-year sequence of studies in psychology in a course or courses accredited by the APS, or have equivalent overseas qualifications recognised by the APS. Applicants must also be registered as a Provisional psychologist and have a supervisor.

The kit loan of one month to allow participants to administer the test outside of the workshop. You will need to have access to your own client base in order to conduct the testing and assessment of competence will be arranged by your supervisor.
