Curious about studying either STEM or aviation after high school?

Do you dream of getting paid to code, discovering an unknown galaxy, or flying to a different country every week? Maybe you already think like an engineer and want to know your course options – and what it takes to get there. Whether you're passionate about algorithms or aerodynamics, this is your chance to see exactly what uni life is all about.

This immersive event is for you if you’re interested in any of the following study areas:

  • Aviation

  • Engineering

  • Computer Science and Cyber Security

  • Astronomy and Astrophysics

What’s involved?

Get ready to dive into all things STEM and aviation at Swinburne as you:

Explore

Experience the buzz of Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus for a day

Collaborate

Work with Swinburne academics and other high school students

Discover

Get a taste of specialisations like Mechanical Engineering, Cyber Security, and Professional Piloting

Learn

Hear about the different career opportunities in both the STEM and aviation industries

There’ll be plenty to learn, see and experience on the day, including:

  • hands-on workshops
  • a guided campus tour
  • a presentation from one of our star academics
  • an ‘ask me anything’ session with a Swinburne student
  • a $15 lunch voucher and $5 coffee voucher
  • free Swinburne merch!

Session details

You’ll attend your choice of not one, but two different workshops and see what it’s like to study aviation or STEM at uni. Choose from:

Calling all budding pilots! Get your hands behind the controls of a plane and take to the (virtual) skies in our flight simulator.

Apply the principles of programming and electronics to control the flow of traffic at a busy intersection with software used by our engineering students.

This workshop will teach you the basic scientific principles required to create your own engineering design capable of wirelessly transmitting electricity.

Compete against other students to design and build the lightest LEGO® catapult that can launch an object the furthest.

Investigate how mechanical engineers are using ocean wave power machines to not only save beaches from erosion damage, but capture that energy and generate electricity.

What are the different types of cyber-attacks, and how do they impact our daily lives? Get ready to find out exactly how web-based vulnerabilities work, then put your new tech skills to the test!

Take a journey to the cosmos in virtual reality! Learn all about astronomy with movies, animations and simulations developed by Swinburne's Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing.
