Overview

The Graduate Certificate of Financial Planning [Online delivery] is designed for students who wish to obtain a sound introduction into concepts and procedures in Financial Planning. Ethical conduct is a key focus of new Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) regulations; this course features a unit of study that focuses on ethical conduct within the industry.

Study structure

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Financial Planning requires students to complete units of study to the value of 300 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

  • Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year

  • Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year

  • One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

The program develops the technical, practical, analytical, communication and creative skills necessary to support a successful career in Financial Planning. It provides an entry level into tertiary study and the ability to obtain a tertiary qualification for appropriately qualified candidates.

  • communicate proficiently with clients, gather and interpret appropriate data and use advanced tools and practices to produce a financial plan
  • demonstrate integrity, ethical conduct, accountability, respect and a broad awareness of the professional code of conduct and cultural norms.
