Overview

The Graduate Certificate of Cybersecurity Management is a contemporary online course that introduces concepts relating to hacking behaviour, social engineering and other human factors. Developing operational management strategies within a cybersecurity framework allows students to gain a deeper understanding of how the world of cyber law, policy and ethics work. This course also has a strong focus on managing cybersecurity teams, processes and governance to support business needs. A course for people who want to support cybersecurity management.

Study structure

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Cyber Security Management requires students to complete units of study to the value of 50 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

  • Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year

  • Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year

  • One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Aims and objectives

At the completion of the Graduate Certificate of Cybersecurity Management, graduates will be able to:

  • critically analyse cybersecurity in an organisational context, that respects organisational goals and needs, other individuals and the need for privacy
  • apply knowledge to the interrelated social, technical, legal and ethical issues involved in the exploitation of computer technology
  • critically review and evaluate the current literature on emerging topics within cybersecurity management and apply knowledge, research principles and methods to plan and execute a piece of independent research in cybersecurity management 
  • apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, expert judgement, adaptability, and responsibility as a practitioner or learner in the cybersecurity area.

Career opportunities

The skills attained from the program should assist graduates in gaining employment in the anti-virus, penetration testing and web security industries.

Maximum Academic Credit

The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Cybersecurity Management is 25 credit points (normally two units).
