Academic Senate Welcome Page
The functions of the Academic Senate are:
- the functions conferred by the Act and the statutes
- to accredit, reaccredit, endorse and ratify programs and courses of study
- to discuss and develop policy recommendations, in relation to the University’s academic programs, both within and across sectors, including planning academic activities and instruction, studies, discipline, examinations, assessments, research, degrees and diplomas, certificates, licences and other awards in the University’s programs
- to monitor academic and research quality and standards
- to report to Council on any issue within the powers and functions of the Academic Senate and any other issue referred to it by the Council for consideration and report
- to report to the Council, at intervals and in the manner specified by the Council, on the performance of its functions
- to make regulations with respect to accreditation and reaccreditation, academic dress and academic titles, ranks or positions, examinations, assessment, graduates, students, programs and courses of study, credit in courses of the University for work done elsewhere, degrees and other awards.
