Swinburne was born in 1908 from one man’s vision to provide a place of further education for the less advantaged in the community.
We are proud to continue George Swinburne’s mission in our commitment to being an engaged, responsible community citizen.
We embrace opportunities to serve our community via research, scholarship, student projects and work placements, public lectures, expert consultancy, and business partnerships.
Our staff and students recognise the work they do as making a vital contribution to an informed, inclusive, dynamic society.
We do important work with secondary school students to foster a love of learning and excite them about the opportunities that higher education can provide.
We want everyone in the community to feel that tertiary education is open to them. We collaborate with community organisations to provide learning opportunities for remote and Indigenous students, provide pathways to degree study via our vocational and short courses and have made further education possible for many through Swinburne Online.
