Our Spring 2020 Science Workshops will be filled with interactive hands-on home science for your children. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, PrimeSCI! will still be providing live-streamed Zoom workshops for the Spring School Holidays.

The live workshops are scheduled to run for a minimum of 40 minutes, and include exciting demonstrations, hands-on activities to follow at home, interactive polls, and the opportunity to post science questions to be answered by our PrimeSCI! presenters. Some of the new and exciting topics to participate in, include the science behind light and sound energy, the chemistry of mixing and unmixing solutions, and the physics of heat energy.

You will receive a lesson information pack within 24 hours with further details, Zoom instructions, as well as pre- and post-session activities.

Note: Your child’s privacy and internet safety is important to us. Children will only be able to view our presenters, and no other participants.

This activity-filled and noisy session is designed to help children discover for themselves the fundamentals of sound and light as they manipulate these two energies.

Our Blue Marble (Prep – Grade 3)

Explore how planet Earth's temperature, atmosphere and water cycle make it ideal for supporting life.

States of Matter (Grades 3–4)

Solids, liquids and gases, and we introduce two other states of matter. Enter the world of atoms and molecules and find out more about the world we live in.

Hot! Hot! (Grades 3–6) NEW!!

Big ideas like conduction, convection and radiation are learnt through play as children uncover the heat in everyday things like keeping doors closed, wearing jumpers, and hot air balloons.

The Unseen World (Grades 3–6)

Explore the incredible world of microbes (and viruses),the impact they have on our everyday life.

Forces in Motion (Grades 3–6)

This fast-paced session will frame student understanding of forces and how they interact. Learn the role of gravity, friction and magnetism in making objects move.

Plastic Fantastic (Grades 5–6)

Explore the world of plastics! Make your own slime, test the properties of certain plastic sand and discover more about these useful materials.

Wonderful Waterways (Prep – Grade 6)

Discover the hidden life in our creeks and rivers. Learn about the simple things we can all do to keep our freshwater habitats health.

Virtual Universe and Black Holes (Grades 3–6) NEW!!

Take a trip out into the solar system with a virtual reality app for your smartphone. Learn about planets, stars and gravitational waves, but don’t get too close to a black hole or it might turn you into spaghetti!
