Overview

This unit aims to introduce the concepts of community nursing and healthy communities. Specific areas of focus include gender and cultural issues in the community. Students will explore the partnership between the acute care sector and community health care through assessment, analysis, planning, and evaluation.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Analyse collaboration and partnership in relation to individual, family, community and the environment
  • Identify relevant health policy that supports healthy communities
  • Explain the epidemiological measures of a healthy community
  • Discuss the concepts of inclusive communities in relation to gender and cultural issues
  • Utilise assessment, analysis, planning, and evaluation skills in the community context
