Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Describe the domain and context of research, and relate it to relevant work in the field
  • Appraise existing work in a chosen domain and identify appropriate questions to address through research activities, and to justify their relevance to the domain
  • Analyse, design, prototype and/or evaluate a suitable solution using the chosen methodology in order to generate outcomes for the identified research questions
  • Analyse the results, critically reflect on the relevance and significance of the outcomes to the domain, and identify further areas of investigation
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in written form, the identified questions, the method developed/chosen, and the achieved outcomes to the relevant community
