James N Stevens Scholarship - Maroondah City Council

This Scholarship Placement is in recognition of the valuable service given by the former Deputy Town Clerk of the City of Croydon, the late Mr. James (Jim) Stevens.  It will provide the successful student with a valuable insight into career opportunities within Local Government.

The placement will be held within Council’s Corporate Services Directorate and will be between 22 November 2021 and 19 February 2022, at a mutually convenient time.  The placement will be a total of 76 hours, with an option of either part-time or full-time.


Courses eligible

The placement is suitable for both undergraduate and postgraduate students who are undertaking, or about to undertake, second year studies in the areas of:

  • Finance/Accounting
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources
  • Rates/Revenue
  • Records Management
  • Customer Service
  • Council Administration - i.e.: Governance
  • Risk Management

Eligibility / selection criteria

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  1. Reside in the City of Maroondah.
  2. Have completed 1st year in a study area as listed above.

Submit your application together with your Resume (including two references), copies of evidence of Tertiary education results and evidence of enrolment for second year Tertiary course (if available) and a statement as to why you would like to take up the scholarship.
