Women in Vocational Education ICT Scholarship

Swinburne University encourages women to pursue a career in Information Communication Technology (ICT). The scholarships aim to support female students to undertake vocational education studies within ICT at Swinburne University of Technology. Scholarship recipients will be supported with work integrated learning opportunities.

The following Vocational Education courses offered by Swinburne University of Technology:

• ICT30118 Certificate III in Information, Digital Media Technologies VETiS
• ICT40118 Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming)
• ICT40418 Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking

To be eligible for the Women in Vocational Education ICT Scholarship, applicants must:

1. Meet the following criteria:
   • female student
   • Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Australian Permanent Resident with Humanitarian Visa or New Zealand citizen
2. Meet the following enrolment criteria:
   • be a commencing Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2022
   • enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
3. Provide evidence of financial hardship.  Examples include (but not limited to):
   • Health Care Card
   • Youth Allowance
   • Newstart Allowance
   • Austudy
   • Abstudy
   • Disability Support Pension; and/or
   • Carer’s Payment
   • Centrelink statement
   • Bank statements/payslips can be used if an explanation is provided in a personal statement
4. Submit a personal statement of no more than 200 words outlining the reason for selecting to study ICT, and future goals as a result of this study. 
    
5. Provide two referee reports outlining your suitability for the scholarship (these reports cannot be written by someone related to you).
   • an academic reference - from a person qualified to comment on academic studies, such as a subject coordinator, school principal, etc.
   • a character reference - a character reference - from a person competent to supply a character reference such as a current or past employer.

Full fee waiver for the normal duration of the course.
