Understanding the past helps solve problems of the present.

We believe history is the foundation for understanding current challenges of the 21st century. That’s why Swinburne offers history, one of the top three disciplines studied at Australian universities.

History is an opportunity to investigate and understand the past. At Swinburne we provide a unique platform for you to research, engage and challenge traditional practices. We’ll also expose you to the origins of today’s problems. These include themes of war and peace, colonialism, gender and political histories. Meanwhile, you’ll develop critical skills in understanding how history is made and written.
