Aims and objectives

Students examine the contemporary circus industry in Australia and overseas. They study the requirements of the sole trader and small business management within the contemporary circus industry incorporating financial management, sources of funding, contracts and marketing. Particular attention is paid to appropriate entrepreneurial marketing strategies aimed at ensuring a sustainable career in the arts.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Create a bespoke business strategy.
2. Source grants and develop a funding strategy.
3. Identify and analyse niche and mass markets for future employment.
4. Develop a position and branding strategy.
5. Create targeted material to promote acts for the contemporary circus industry.
