Aims and objectives

This is the second science unit within the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and builds upon learning within EDU30011. In this unit pre-service teachers will explore the relationship between Science and Technology (STEM). This unit aims to prepare pre-service teachers to plan, teach and assess Science, Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies in the primary classroom.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Develop and evaluate engaging Science lesson plans and/or unit outlines in accordance with relevant National, State and/or Territory curriculum documents that adhere to inclusive and safe practice.
2. Apply a range of teaching and assessment strategies, including single subject and cross disciplinary approaches, and evaluate how they can be applied to a range of Science concepts and knowledge across the Primary school years.
3. Develop and evaluate engaging design and technologies and digital technologies learning experiences and/or lesson and/or unit plans in accordance with relevant National, State and/or Territory curriculum documents that adhere to inclusive and safe practise.
4. Evaluate a range of teaching and assessment strategies that support learning in design and technologies and digital technologies and adhere to safe practise.
5. Develop and evaluate learning plans that integrate design and technologies and digital technologies within Science learning experiences to create engaging, safe and inclusive STEM based learning experiences
