Aims and objectives

In completing this unit, students will develop an advanced knowledge of the challenges involved in configuring and implementing a talent management system and how these challenges can be managed. The unit will focus on developing both a theoretical framework to guide talent management initiatives and applied skills required to develop a talent management plan, with particular emphasis on workforce planning, recruitment and selection, performance and reward techniques.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
  • Apply advanced and coherent knowledge of the key concepts and theoretical foundations of talent management.
  • Critically analyse recruitment and selection theory and practice and apply this knowledge to an employment situation.
  • Critically analyse performance and reward management theory and practice and apply this knowledge to an employment situation.
  • Apply problem solving and creative thinking to identify and provide innovative solutions to complex problems in the employment context.
