Aims and objectives
The aim of this unit of study is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the statistical skills acquired throughout their course to undertake an industry research project under supervision. Students will complete and write up the research project they commenced in Research Project Part A. As this is the final unit in the course, supervisors will provide students with in-depth professional knowledge that is essential in industry research/consulting projects, and essential for their future careers.
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO)
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Source relevant data for investigating the research questions
2. Apply relevant statistical analyses in a specific research context addressing the characteristics of the data and the research questions
3. Evaluate relevant assumptions and draw conclusions about the quality of evidence generated in a research project
4. Synthesise project conclusions with literature review to suggest directions for future research
5. Design a scientific research report in the format of a journal article
6. Optimise research exposure by finding the best format and channels for dissemination

Content
- Completion of an original research project under academic supervision
- Participation in every phase of a research project: Formulation of research questions/hypotheses, planning, data collection, data cleaning and analysis, interpretation and reporting of results, and compliance with research ethics
- In person presentation of research project findings
- Preparation of a report in the format of a peer-reviewed scientific journal article
