This unit focuses on the field of Occupational Health and Safety, with an emphasis on the legal framework underpinning a safe work environment, the types and nature of hazards and the principles of Worksafe practices.
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Discuss the legal requirements relevant to the creation and maintenance of a safe working environment.
2. Identify the types, nature and specific effects of occupational hazards on human health and the appropriate mechanisms available to manage these hazards
3. Apply the principles of safe work practices demonstrating the rationale for safety requirements
4. Explain the Disaster Management principles impacting on occupational hazards and human safety
