1. Reflect on how changes in knowledge and knowledge construction impact on learning and teaching practice in contemporary tertiary environments.
2. Critically evaluate pedagogical theories, models and frameworks and their application to practice. 3. Plan and develop effective learning environments for student learning and approaches for student support.
4. Enact, reflect and evaluate evidence-based change and improvement of teaching practice.

This core unit will enable you to gain study credit whilst simultaneously enhancing and extending your understanding of the changing nature of knowledge and knowledge construction for learning and teaching in Higher Education. The unit will support your critical evaluation and reflection of pedagogical learning and teaching approaches, models and frameworks and their application to your current practice.
You will also explore how to plan for and develop effective learning environments and improve student learning and teaching practices. You will be exposed to a range of resource materials and online learning activities designed to extend your understanding of learning and teaching and to support you with assessments.
The unit will enable you to critically reflect on your own teaching practice within a supportive, collaborative online learning environment and provide the opportunity to apply these new learnings in your future teaching. You will be engaged in active, collaborative learning and feedback - sharing and building knowledge together.

It is expected that students will need to allocate approximately eight hours per week for online activities and independent study.

Assessment for this unit is structured as one project based learning project; a Professional Action Plan for developing capacity in learning and teaching.
The Professional Action Plan comprises individual assessment tasks, which are constructively aligned to each of the learning modules that make up the unit.
